I must admit, I was getting bored with the political spectrum, because I felt it was getting redundant, but in light of the recent smearing, they (Conservative Right Wingers/ Racists/ Haters & B.A.N.A.'s) have effectively rekindled my passion.
In today's (7/24/08) N.Y. Post, Liz Smith's column quoted the National Review which stated; "This is a great country. EVEN a black man, with no DISCERNIBLE ACCOMPLISHMENTS, can become President". WOW!!! How insulting. If that isn't a back handed compliment I don't know what is.
I guess going to Harvard, earning his way to the top of his class, overcoming his bi-racial background, working hard to help disadvantaged members of the inner city obtain a better quality of life, reaching out to fellow politicians across the aisle, becoming Senator, his voting record, the fact that the man is brilliant, speaking with an eloquence the oval office has lacked since Bill Clinton, which has also impressed and caught the attention of the masses here and abroad, is irrelevant.
They even went on to say how "We thought she (Hillary Clinton) would be a steadier hand as President then Sen. Barack Obama would be, with more hawkish instincts and greater political REALISM". WOW!!! Exactly when did this epiphany occur, because, they have slandered her and her husband, virtually, throughout his Presidency, and thereafter. Also, what political "realism" are they referring to? As if hope, optimism, and being outspoken against the establishment is somehow equated with naivety.
I've heard panelists say that the media is "drooling", "swooning", and having a "love fest" over the Sen. That the public has given him a "free pass." That his experience is inadequate to be commander in chief. That he and his wife aren't "Patriotic" enough. Cut the BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!!
Negroes from this hemisphere (North/ Central/ South America & the Caribbean) were brought here by Slave Traders. For 400 years, and counting, we have been fighting for equality, and justice. They have effectively divided and conquered us. Finally, a minority (not just African American) candidate emerges with a realistic opportunity to win the White House, and they start spreading a bunch of cynicism, racism, fear, and outright lies. Should we have expected any less, NO, but should we sit on the sidelines and say nothing in response, HELL NO!!!!
He earned the right to run for office with his hard work, education, and knowledge of the political realm. Even though his father was not an American, he was born and raised American, so I'm sure he is quite familiar with our plight, as well as the plight of the nation as a whole.
I'm glad to see Nas, although I think it hurts his record sales, so actively trying to get the message out, and for protesting FOX news at their offices yesterday. The album is poppin BTW, but it's not that shallow party stuff, which I enjoy as well, but it's on an intellectual level few artists can reach, or aspire to reach, which is refreshing.
We have to respond to the smearing, and clandestine tactics, as a unified front. Stand up people! All people, who inherently know that many in government do not represent our interests, adequately. By "we & our" I mean the upper middle class on down, comprising of all races, genders, ethnicities, etc, which is a majority of the U.S. population.
Yes, the surge is working, but lest we forget that, 1. We shouldn't have invaded Iraq in the first place, as no WMD have been found to date. & 2. The surge would have been fruitless if the Iraqi's themselves didn't begin to take a stand and defend their own country. I don't want to hear "We're fighting them over there, so we don't have to fight them over here" crap. If we sent a modest force of about 50,000 troops (especially our Special Forces) after Bin Laden from day one, not only would we have had greater success, but we would have saved the American taxpayer billions, and America would have retained more of our self respect in the eyes of the world.
Shit, I was in the building on that fateful day, I would give up my life for this country in a heartbeat, if I felt we were being attacked, but Iraq had NOTHING to do with it, period. Now all of the sudden, we're occupying a country which has one of the largest oil reserves in the world, and gas prices are going through the roof? Explain to me how that happened. After the first Gulf war, gas prices went way down. I would say we've been hoodwinked, once again.
I'm glad to see the current President equate Wall Street's debacle to a hangover, he should have plenty of knowledge when it comes to that. I do too, but I don't claim to be holier than thou, either. They are soooo scared of what Obama might do, but this President is not the brightest light bulb in the room, tripped up repeatedly (verbally/ policy wise/ etc/etc), and he was actually elected twice people!!! If anything, he is the one who got a free pass, his entire life. Does it even seem that he and Obama got the same Ivy League education? Again, HELL NO!!!! Somebody earned it, and somebody got the proverbial hook up. You do the math.
All I know is that a strong middle class is what brought this country out of a recession the first time, and that is our best opportunity to do it this time too, not to mention, to keep us strong as a whole. I'm glad to see Mr. Pickens (an oil man) leading the charge, is spending his own money, in order to convert to clean energy. I've said it long ago, if the energy industry Titans, who are currently raking in record profits, do not come on board, it will be a losing battle. I will do whatever I can to reduce my carbon footprint, but it will definitely take the big dawgs, and their money, to affect REAL CHANGE.
The audacity of these assholes. It should be enough to wake everyone up out of our coma. CHANGE, OPTIMISM, ACTIVISM, INFORMATION, HOPE & ACTION are the tools we need to bring about progress people, let's get busy, and DON'T FORGET TO VOTE THIS NOVEMBER!!! NOBODY SAID CHANGE WAS GOING TO BE EASY, SO STOP LETTING THEM SCARE YOU INTO SUBMISSION AND STAND UP!!!!! PEACE……………………….

Fuzzy Math
There will always be fear mongering and deception by the Right wing, as usual, but look at the numbers. Hillary’s support is not as overwhelming among the "while + blue collar" voters as they are claiming. At the end of the day, I think"most" people realize Obama is clearly the most refreshing candidate to hit the stump since Bill Clinton, whether or not they are willing to accept his multiracial (NOT JUST AA) background, shows just how much we need CHANGE in this country.
What he lacks in experience, I believe he will make up for with SOUND JUDGEMENT (i.e. Iraq/Gas Tax issues/ Healthcare/Rev. Wright/Foreign Diplomacy/ Economy/ and G. Ferraro), because as much as they want to paint him as an "elitist" he is more down to earth than any candidate we've ever had in this country, and hands down more like you and I than Hillary or McCain...... not to mention the man is brilliant!!!! Is intelligence to be equated with elitism&arrogance nowadays? Listening to the rhetoric on the campaign trail it certainly sounds that way. But that's how tricknowledgy (my word) works. It panders to your fears, and to the ignorant, close minded, stubborn, and racist groups among us, which is the age old practice called "DIVIDE AND CONQUER". Been working like a charm for thousands of years, don’t see why they would change their tactics now.
Supposedly, he is losing strength because of the affluent/college educated/ independent/African American/ GOP converts/ and the Youth vote, but that sounds like a vigorous, and supremely diverse campaign to me. No disrespect to anyone, but are we to believe the process will be undermined by uneducated, racist, and poor suburban southern voters? They will do what they have to, and that's why it is an inherent responsibility for EVERY ABLE BODIED citizen to vote whenever a Democratic candidate finally emerges from this race.
We CANNOT allow the pundits to disseminate their rhetoric and "SPIN" it into reality any longer. They only hope to decrease the enthusiasm a majority of the country had in anticipation of W leaving office. And, WE CANNOT LET THEM DO THIS to U.S. AGAIN!!!!!! Been to the grocery store, on the train, on the highways, to the supermarket lately? Seen how many GI's are getting screwed out of the GI bill they earned putting their lives on the line? Seen how destitute these same "warriors" are when they return home only to find they have no financial security, support, or employment opportunities.
Have you spoken to a customer service rep lately, after hours? Are there any Americans willing to do these jobs?????? The mortgage crisis, gas prices, etc, etc, etc. It is never ending!!!!!!! Seems like the only thing the GOP has been successful in doing is widening the gap between the rich and the poor. Soon there will be no middle class, it will be just the Rich and the Poor. We are well on our way... A recent survey stated that an extremely high number of Americans, even $$$$deca millionaires, are feeling the financial crunch.
One thing is for sure O has his work cut out for him, but I know he will have very few chances to screw up because they will scrutinize every decision he makes whether it's a good idea or not. But this is to be expected when you're the first minority ANYTHING (especially if you're a black man). I've been plugged into the campaign from the very beginning, and I haven't seen Obama cower under pressure yet. I don't care what they say; I believe the country realizes we need to go in a different direction. To vote for a GOP candidate just to "spite" the party, or, to express their disappointment because Hillary didn't win, is PURE IGNORANCE, and if that is the case, the country deserves whatever it gets as a result. But I still hope we can collectively WAKE UP, and stop being so F#@$%^& stupid.

THE BLACK PLAGUE
The actions of Jeremiah Wright lately, are inexcusable. His words are divisive, his sermons are laced with conspiracy theories, falsehoods, and innuendo, yet, I do share "some" of his sentiments. I do believe the government has forsaken the African American community, and the community constantly faces injustices that are unheard of in other communities.
How many unarmed any races besides Black, do you hear getting shot to death by police, regularly? That being said, I feel Jeremiah's latest speech is naive, at best, and comparable to Black on Black crime, at its highest level. Why now? Why say that Obama's response to the sound bites were "what politicians do"? Why does it appear that he now has a vendetta against Obama?
Obama didn't disown Wright when the sound bites first came out. Yes, he distanced himself from the divisive remarks, but he said "he could no more disown Wright than he could disown the Black community". Bravo!! Jeremiah…… now exit stage left. That should have been the end of it if Jeremiah truly believed in Obama's candidacy.
The right wingers, and his opponents would still bring the issue up, but the significance of it would not have been as severe. Now, two weeks before the next round of primaries, Wright decides to go on a speaking tour, and not only reiterate the most caustic of his statements, but he also seemed to go after Obama, as if Obama somehow betrayed him.
Politics is indeed a dirty game, but when you are running for the highest office in the land, representative of EVERYONE, you cannot have it appear that you have aligned yourself with extremists or extremist causes through personal relationships, domestic or abroad. Yes previous administrations have engaged in clandestine activities, but it was done covertly, and that's beside the point, because it is WRONG to take sides when you are running for Commander in Chief. Your duty is to make sure everyone is protected, and do what's best for the Nation as a whole, according to the law.
The middle class is what makes this country strong. The elite of this country want to keep pace with the Oil barons and the heiresses from abroad so badly, they have forsaken their own well being, and the well being of the nation for SHORT TERM gains. Yeah, they have been raking in the profits, but take a look at the recent earning reports; it's practically down across the board. Without consumption, the profits will fall, and without income consumption drastically slows down. No one shops like Americans.
All this is more reason why we cannot afford to be distracted by the nonsense that keeps us in the dark. I am no prophet, but I am confident Obama is a superior choice. He OBVIOUSLY does not harbor "all" of the sentiments his Pastor expresses. After all the man's ancestry is half white. That fact is routinely omitted because they want to blacken him up as much as they can right now. Just like Guiliani doesn't agree with the Cardinal, but Guiliani still shows up to church, and even takes the sacrament, albeit, against the Cardinal's wishes. If he were Obama I'm sure this little fact would have marginalized him as well. But we all know the first Black President is going to have a boatload of crap to deal with. The first Black anything will always be challenged. These are the conditions we need to CHANGE. Everyone should be judged based on their capabilities, performance, and merit, primarily. But the first step will always be the most difficult. Here's to change, I hope we are prepared to make our voices heard, and stop chomping at the bit to destroy each other all the damn time, consciously or otherwise……

STATE OF DENIAL
I have heard many, including friends of mine who are not Black (even some Non African American “Blacks”) routinely dismiss Racism/ Inequality/ or Reparations due. As if Black people are a bunch of lazy ass whiners, who just sit around collect welfare, then bitch incessantly, without merit. I’m not going to front, many of us are, but not the majority of us. There are bad seeds from every race on earth. On the 45th Anniversary of Martin Luther Kings assassination, it’s time for AMERICA to honestly confront this issue, and deal with it. It’s not all good, and it is a MORAL DISGRACE that we still need to address this issue.
No one expects EVERYONE to “like” Black people; just EQUALITY. Treat every INDIVIDUAL justly, with respect, according to the LAWS we are governed by. Let us not forget that this country was built on our ancestors backs, “LITERALLY”. The contributions made by a great many great African American inventors, doctors, physicists, soldiers, etc, till this very day, are not profound in grade school teachings. Tell me that sh&* is not by design!!!!!!!
I was out of High School for many years before I learned of the Tuskegee Airmen, Toussaint L’ouverture (led a rebellion defeating Napoleon – which led to the first liberated country on this hemisphere = HAITI), the Buffalo soldiers (fighters from the Carribean that helped the US gain it’s independence), Vivien Thomas (Cardiac Surgeon Engineer – No college education), Garrett Augustus Morgan (traffic light), that slaves built the White House and a great many of our monuments, I could keep dropping names but it’s a moot point. All you hear about is Martin Luther King, and no disrespect, but that whole sh*& was a big conspiracy anyway.. Both he and Kennedy were killed because of what they stood for, but King is widely accepted because he was a pacifist.
Although there is no proof our government was directly involved, some members of Congress are still fighting to have evidence released in regards to both assassinations, till this very day. Bet you if King was “Unite or Die” & “Liberty or Death”, as the founding fathers suggested when breaking free from England’s rule (CHECK YOUR HISTORY), they would have made a conscious effort to remove him from our memory banks, or desecrated his legacy entirely.
I for one, have personally experienced racism’s continued influence, both in my personal life, professional life, and vicariously, through individuals in the media spotlight. Believe it or not, I have even experienced racism from Blacks. The self hatred mantra has been so deeply seeded within the Black psyche, a great many of us don’t even realize, or care, that we do ourselves a tremendous disservice when we continue to tear each other apart, for the sake of perceived, minimal, or individual progress/recognition.
But in light of the continuing discrimination/abuses/injustices we are subjected to (i.e. today’s Sean Bell verdict), I am sad to say that our “bitching” has once again been justified. They knew what the likely outcome was going to be, that’s why they had helicopters and foot Police out in mass force around my neighborhood, at 7:30 this morning.
It’s obvious that black men are still feared, unless they are controlled. Without a doubt, being a NYC policeman has to be the most difficult, and sometimes, the least gratifying beat in the nation. But, it is an inherent responsibility for ever OFFICER to be courageous, and stoic, especially when faced with adversity. As it says on the side of the police cars “COURTESTY/ PROFESSIONALISM/ RESPECT” those values should extend to every single INDIVIDUAL, regardless of your race/gender/age/ nationality/etc/etc.
They make a big deal when black people use the word “Nigga” amongst themselves, although we use it phonetically. I hate it when kids use it on the bus, train, workplace, or in a public environment period, but if me and my boys are sitting around in the privacy of our own homes and we decide to joke around with each other, or say it in a rap song (labeled “ADULT CONTENT”), I should be able to say whatever the fuck I want to say. Fix the problem. DON’T PLACATE ME WITH TALK ABOUT ILLEGALIZING A WORD, WHEN PPL LIKE ME ARE LITERALLY BEING F*&^%D EVERY DAY. STOP IT!!!!!
Like Hockey, they commit far more offensive acts on the ice, in front of millions of children, but their antics are always written off as “part of the game”.. Really? Then why are they sent to a penalty box? Why are they suspended when the media/public reacts to a specific incident? And, are children not witnessing these acts of violence just the same? I know many may insist it’s part of the game, but just as with any “double standard” issue, consider the source (i.e. who wrote the rule book).
They took Rev. Wright’s words all out of context. He wasn’t talking about individual American’s. He was referring to the system, and the way we have been systematically screwed for over 400 years and counting. There are too many references to this point, so I won’t even go there. But all of the sudden, Obama goes from racist, to elitist now. They sure know how to disseminate misinformation. A lot of ppl I believe Obama would try to help, should he make it into office, wouldn’t vote for him NO MATTER WHAT.
If by chance Obama wins the election, boy is he going to have his work cut out for him. I want all of you reading this to make a note of every blunder this President seemed to overcome, then compare it to the sheer scrutiny Obama will be up against, if he ever survives a victory that is.
The other day Tori Hunter described how Boston fans routinely use racial slurs against Black players in the outfield, to which David Ortiz responded “that’s the way it is”. Pathetic!!!!!!!! We should never ever accept that type of behavior as the status quo, especially when we are in positions of power. It pisses me off, but I understand why Latin American Blacks disassociate themselves with African or American Blacks. The stigma is so fierce, they are more than happy to come to America and stand in solidarity with their fellow countrymen with their head up.
I spoke to ppl from DR, PR, Venezuela, Belize, Guyana, etc, etc, they treat them like “NIGGERS” over there too. If you bring a “white” girl home you can do no wrong, but bring a dark skinned chick home, it’s like you violated your entire lineage, or some type of code. Mind you, these are the Black Latin families (NOT ALL) I’m talking about. God forbid, I can just imagine what the conversation would be like with (SOME) “white” Latin families. I was watching Bill Maher 2 weeks ago, and he asked a Latin girl how would her family react if she brought a black man home, she immediately said they would disapprove, but then he asked, what if you brought home Obama, to which she responded, “they would be fine with that”. I guess the only time you’re Blackness is forgiven is when your tremendously wealthy, and/or popular, because she didn’t even meet that HYPOTHETICAL dude, but she just knew they wouldn’t accept it. SAD SAD SAD!!!!!!!!
As for the White family, an older African American (legal gun owner), who shot a racist Italian kid from Long Island, who came to his door with a mob over some bullshit rumors conjured up by an associate of his, threatening to White’s son. Who would fault a White man from shooting a Black man who showed up in front of his house with a mob of thugs, WRONGLY, threatening his son and making sexually explicit remarks about his wife???? What prosecutor would have this man spend one day in jail??
I know Bell and his cohorts were no Angels, but that is beside the point. Bravery should be a prerequisite in order to be an officer of the law in NYC. You are governing the most diverse race of people anywhere in the world. And, if you shoot someone to DEATH, because you THINK they have a gun, at the very least, you should make sure that individual has a gun, or some type of weapon, regardless of the situation. Don’t justify your actions because you don’t make that much money, or because you were “afraid”. If you’re afraid of Black urban men, DON’T BECOME A FUCKIN COP.
No one expects EVERYONE to “like” Black people; just EQUALITY. Treat every INDIVIDUAL justly, with respect, according to the LAWS we are governed by. Let us not forget that this country was built on our ancestors backs, “LITERALLY”. The contributions made by a great many great African American inventors, doctors, physicists, soldiers, etc, till this very day, are not profound in grade school teachings. Tell me that sh&* is not by design!!!!!!!
I was out of High School for many years before I learned of the Tuskegee Airmen, Toussaint L’ouverture (led a rebellion defeating Napoleon – which led to the first liberated country on this hemisphere = HAITI), the Buffalo soldiers (fighters from the Carribean that helped the US gain it’s independence), Vivien Thomas (Cardiac Surgeon Engineer – No college education), Garrett Augustus Morgan (traffic light), that slaves built the White House and a great many of our monuments, I could keep dropping names but it’s a moot point. All you hear about is Martin Luther King, and no disrespect, but that whole sh*& was a big conspiracy anyway.. Both he and Kennedy were killed because of what they stood for, but King is widely accepted because he was a pacifist.
Although there is no proof our government was directly involved, some members of Congress are still fighting to have evidence released in regards to both assassinations, till this very day. DOA March 2008
This is an “OFFICIAL” obituary from one of the staunchest KNICK fans on earth. I must admit, the entire organization has regressed. I withheld judgment until we were officially eliminated from the playoffs, but we’re DONE now.
I still maintain that the season was an ultimate failure, primarily, due to Eddy Curry’s state of conditioning, or, lack thereof. That being said, all of the extra curricular drama (Harassment case/ Starbury drama/ Quentin drama/ Zach drama/ the passing of Marbury’s Dad/ the passing of Zach’s grandmother/ Zeke’s relationship with the press/ The Garden’s media policy/ & Youth) were instrumental in cementing our demise as well.
Virtually all teams go through some type of adversity, and teams that are able to overcome those obstacles are usually better for it, however, we failed to capitalize on just about every single opportunity we had, for the past two seasons. Can’t blame lady luck, and “I” can no longer defend them, although, they will always be “my” squad.
Without a doubt change was needed, but Dolan doesn’t even bother to interview Jerry West, or Coangelo??? I was dumbfounded when I read that. Guess the critics really do have a point. Everyone has their favorite, but after the past 4 seasons, it should have been incumbent on ownership to seek the most qualified and the best fit to resurrect the franchise. Not saying Donnie is not the “ONE” but why sell yourself short? Last I checked, the Pacers have been underachievers for years too.
If we do get rid of Zeke, would someone PLEASE interview Rick Carlisle? With all the complaining we do about PPL we don’t like, here is a guy who has performed satisfactory in his posts, but for some reason, always gets the shaft. Again, I’m not proclaiming him to be the very best, but before we give Mark the keys to the franchise, at least sit down with a “few” viable candidates first.
Again, nothing is guaranteed, but if someone doesn’t get on Eddy (& Zach to a degree) about his conditioning, we will have to restart the entire rebuilding faze. But if he could somehow manage to get with a trainer, NOW, and start getting his body right, NOW, the potential for next season, especially with the draft pick, could be very promising. He has all the tools; he just needs to enhance his ability to execute. When Zeke said “his conditioning is fine”, I almost lost it. That was it!!! If you can’t admit the obvious, I can no longer continue to “Ride or Die”; I have to tell it like it is. Just like the Nation needs new leadership, the Knicks need a complete overhaul.

HERE WE GO AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I started to think our country evolved to the point where we could easily tell when we were being misled, but apparently, we still have not progressed. Fear is rearing its ugly head once again people, WAKE THE &*^% UP!!!!!!! They’re back at it.
When I seen them try to link Obama to Farrakhan I knew that wouldn’t work, but now they are going after his pastor with reckless abandon. Obama went from THE Candidate for CHANGE to a MILITANT ISLAMIST / AFRICAN AMERICAN LIBERATION PARTY MEMBER…… OVERNIGHT PEOPLE!!!
I checked out Fox News, because I like to approach each situation with an open mind. Man…. they interviewed the leader of the Black Panther Party, another militant, and Al Sharpton. They make it sound like if you vote for Obama, the Black Man is going to crazy, take over the world, and Obama is going to sit back and let everything happen.
Without question Rev. Wright’s words were caustic to say the least, but he wasn’t referring to individuals of any race/creed/or gender, he was talking about past & present leaders of this country, who continually serve us “ALL” &#$!, and call it gourmet.
That’s why I always talk to people of color when I am around different races and professional settings, because your words can easily be taken out of context, and although I know it doesn’t make an immediate impact, at the end of the day, I am representative of my race and my culture, and I want US represented in the best light possible.
Rev. Wright exaggerated some things but the “TRAIL OF TEARS” (lacing Native American’s blankets with a virus) was real, the “TUSKEGEE EXPERIMENT” (giving placebos to African American males who had syphilis) was real, “SLAVERY” was real, the trumped up charges which lead to the invasion of “IRAQ” is real and still going on. 4000 soldiers killed, 30,000 wounded, almost 10,000 amputees, and a couple of trillion dollars and counting, charged to the American public, while private contractors are over there getting cake, more than our fighting men and women even. HELLO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
War is always ugly, but we should only sacrifice our men and women when it is ABSOLUTELY necessary. Now all of the sudden Osama Bin Laden drops another mixed tape. I imagine, if Barack gets any closer to winning, Osama is going to be dropping tapes left and right, mark my words.
Did you guys see the Bear Sterns bail out the other day? Yeah, that had GOP written all over it. They are telling us the way to help the economy is by bailing out Wall Street. WTF????/ No, you help Americans by making sure Americans are gainfully employed, and we are not sacrificing Americans when we sit down and create Global Trade (NAFTA) policies. See, as long as the upper to middle class citizens continue to consume products, go to movies, restaurants, Broadway Shows, buy homes, buy cars; as long as we keep our voracious appetite for consumption peaking PERIOD, this country will ALWAYS be strong.
It would help if we started making some of those goods again. And keeping contracts like the $40 billion dollar fuel tanker contract we just sent overseas, home. I’m not being naïve, if Obama or Hillary wins they will have their work cut out for them, but after 8 years of this, we need to start righting the ship NOW!!!!!!!!
Don’t be discouraged, and don’t let them coax you into being SCARED. Obama is not Osama. He is not just a black man; he is of mixed ethnicity which gives him an advantage no other American president has ever had. He has insight into both cultures and I’m sure he is sensitive to ALL issues affecting ALL Americans.
DON’T GIVE UP YAH’LL. THE FOURTH QUARTER IS ABOUT TO START, AND IT WILL GET WORSE BEFORE THINGS START GETTING BETTER…… BUT GET OUT THERE, MAKE YOUR VOICES HEARD. IF YOU’RE NOT PART OF THE SOLUTION, YOU’RE PART OF THE PROBLEM.
Those of us who choose to sit on the sidelines are almost as culpable as the ones who keep screwing mainstream America over and over again. God Bless to all those who seek truth, and strive everyday to better themselves and everyone around them, without shoving it down their throats, or playing judge/jury/ & executioner. Not one of us is without sin, but together we can move forward and bring about TRUE CHANGE, unprecedented change. Let’s make it happen. OBAMA IN ’08!!!!!!!!!!!!!

STAY OUT OF MY BEDROOM
AS YOU CAN TELL, I'M REAL PASSIONATE ABOUT THIS SUBJECT TOO........
In regards to the recent Gov. Spitzer incident, I believe it is time that our leaders realize the OLDEST PROFESSION in the world is not going away any time soon. Prosecuting, condemning, judging, and ultimately, imprisoning ADULT individuals for consensual sexual behavior is unrealistic, disingenuous, and extremely hypocritical.
Would she have been ok if she slept with him for free, for a happy meal, or if he promised to splurge on a shopping spree in the future? According to the law, yes, but the real problem here is that a married man, cheated on his wife. Everything else is trivial. I feel sorry for his wife and kids, but if a single adult, or, a married individual receives authorization from their spouse, they should be able to do whatever they want to do.
What are they afraid of. Do they think a majority of women will run out and become escorts if they legalize it. Most of the most powerful men throughout history have been guilty of infidelity. As for women.... Yah'll catching up FAST!!! Trust me, I know some of you personally, real personal. That being said, I think it's better for someone to pay an escort, rather than carry on in a pseudo side relationship. At least once they pay the escort, it's over. Only if the they get turned out will they see him/her again. Most of the time, they'll go for something new.
Did you guys hear about the Iranian "TOP COP - Reza Zarei", who got caught with SIX NUDE STRIPPERS (3/13/08 NY POST) in a local brothel. Word is, he has been cracking down, and enforcing the Islamic dress code, and Morality Laws. "Under his crackdown, hundreds of young people were tossed into jail for violating the Islamic code of behavior."
Straight up, most people can't afford to pay $250.00, $500.00, or $2000.00 an hour for sex. Most of the people tricking are wealthy and/or powerful. Then they return home and persecute the "commoners" for the slightest hint of sexuality, infidelity, or perceived promiscuity.
The only way we can effectively/justly enforce this law would be to monitor each individuals “private” sex life, and spending habits. How many men/women have a Sugar Daddy/Momma? How many men/women have a Mistress/Boy Toy on the side that they actively support, and trick on? Is that not, essentially, the same thing? What, just because someone does it outright, or, ON DEMAND, and someone else does it in secrecy, or by deception, that makes it acceptable?
No doubt, countless people around the globe are victimized by human trafficking, but by making prostitution a CRIME, we only exacerbate these problems.
It goes without question that we need some type of laws in place to protect children, and those who may have morality issues with this behavior, but we already have these laws on the books.
1. An adult cannot engage in a sexual act/conduct with a minor.
2. You cannot solicit or engage in a sexual act in public.
3. You cannot hold someone, or move them beyond 10ft, against their will.
4. DON'T CHEAT ON YOUR SPOUSE, UNLESS IT'S AUTHORIZED BY YOUR SPOUSE (not officially a law, but the courts$$$$ and your conscious will get you).
SIMPLE!!!! THAT’S IT…. NO NEW LAWS NEEDED.
Decriminalizing it would in effect, reduce the number of lives that are interrupted/destroyed, and stop the stigma associated with it as well. We’re all in denial if we don’t think this will go on for ever. A married man/woman should never cheat on their spouse, but that is not reality, and it is an entirely separate topic of discussion.
I much prefer to have somewhere an Adult can go to ease their tension, stress, relax, or fulfill their desire for physical pleasure instead of doing it in secrecy in order to avoid retribution. Most things done in the light are better. Most of the individuals claiming to have highest morality standards, are usually the most deviate in their private lives. How many more examples do we need (Sen. Criag/ Rev. Haggard/ Gov. Spitzer/ M. Foley), the list goes on and on and on.
Let God be the judge. If you really believe in a true and just God, STOP TRYING TO BE HIM!!! Clean up your own backyard. Stay celebate until you're married. Don't swear. Eradicate your personal vices. Don't Sin PERIOD!!! But stop persecuting people man. As long as they are not hurting/endangering someone else, let them find their own salvation. Stop forcing it down their throats, ESPECIALLY if you're engaging in the very same ACTS.
I would love to hear opposing views/arguments/etc, as to why you disagree. Maybe one day we’ll get it right, and stop being HYPOCRITES. In most cases that I’ve been exposed to, this is a totally victimless crime. What you do with your body, should be no one else's business, as long as you DO NOT HURT ANYONE ELSE, PERIOD!!!!!!!!
In regards to the recent Gov. Spitzer incident, I believe it is time that our leaders realize the OLDEST PROFESSION in the world is not going away any time soon. Prosecuting, condemning, judging, and ultimately, imprisoning ADULT individuals for consensual sexual behavior is unrealistic, disingenuous, and extremely hypocritical.
Would she have been ok if she slept with him for free, for a happy meal, or if he promised to splurge on a shopping spree in the future? According to the law, yes, but the real problem here is that a married man, cheated on his wife. Everything else is trivial. I feel sorry for his wife and kids, but if a single adult, or, a married individual receives authorization from their spouse, they should be able to do whatever they want to do.
What are they afraid of. Do they think a majority of women will run out and become escorts if they legalize it. Most of the most powerful men throughout history have been guilty of infidelity. As for women.... Yah'll catching up FAST!!! Trust me, I know some of you personally, real personal. That being said, I think it's better for someone to pay an escort, rather than carry on in a pseudo side relationship. At least once they pay the escort, it's over. Word is, he has been cracking down, and enforcing the Islamic dress code, and Morality Laws. "Under his crackdown, hundreds of young people were tossed into jail for violating the Islamic code of behavior."
